about

UnderTipper began as a project in late 2014 when Tavis Disgraceful parted ways on good terms with Cincinnati OH punk band “Bad Standard” to focus on recording a full length solo album. The goal of UnderTipper was to take existing original songs, give them a bit of a facelift and ensure they were recorded as well as one dude hanging out in a basement with a few beers, guitars, and a computer is able. At very minimum it still sounded like a pretty appealing way to spend free time in the evenings. Three months into the project Bad Standard bassist Jeff Forton was persuaded to "come over and have a few brews" ultimately leading to him recording bass guitar and additional backup vocals for the album. One can never have enough “gang vocals” though….the struggle is real. Ultimately Clay Stevens and Mike Ashcraft (both from Bad Standard) where invited down into the basement to croon additional backup vocals into the microphone. With group vocal “gangyness” achieved, there was still the small matter of getting a decent album mix. Having been a longtime fan of The Copyrights (and originally hailing from the Carbondale IL area himself) Tavis contacted Luke McNeill (The Copyrights, Hospital Job, all around super nice guy) about mixing the album. Apparently Luke never sleeps because he agreed to take on the project. The end result is the debut UnderTipper album “Barely Making ¢ents”, consisting of 10 short and sweet punk songs....kinda like they made back in the 90s.

Track Name: Go Home
Where do you go when you go home
Where do you go when you go home
Nothing here even looks the same
Funny how everything can change

Where do you go when you’re all washed up
Where do you go when you’re out of luck
Nothing left but the memory
Lock it up throw away the key

It's times like these they bring you down
Nothing constant as the change

It's times like these they break you down
Don’t get caught in yesterday

Where do you go when you go home
Where do you go when you go home
Nothing here for you anyway
Nobody cares if you leave or stay

Where do you go when the lights go out
Where do you go when you’re full of doubt
These days it looks so worn down
Light a match burn it to the ground
Track Name: Countdown
They say you’re innocent but i don't wanna know
Just what you're after, got your cards you hold them close

Not hard to justify when your back's up against the wall
They say you’re innocent but I don’t, wanna hear it

You gotta get away
Dont let it/them bring you down
Gonna show them all.

They say not relevant you say they’re all a bore
Stockpile options here’s something they can’t ignore
Not hard to justify when your back’s up against the wall
They say not relevant but I don’t, wanna hear it

Countdown
I don’t wanna be, something other see
As just another pawn, am I doing something wrong
To the point that I can’t breathe, 321
Track Name: Losing Campaign
Just wasting away
Postpone and delay
Coming up empty
At the end of the day

A tired refrain
A losing campaign
It just drags you down
And then right back to me

And I can’t remember the things I say
And you can’t recall things from yesterday
Sometimes the truth is a losing campaign
It depends who you ask about it

You could have opened up
We could have passed the time
We could have talked all night
You could have thought about it

We could have done our part
You could have towed the line
We could have made it work
I’ve got no doubt about it

I thought you worked it out
I thought you had enough
I thought you gave it up
I thought we talked about it

I thought you put it down
I thought you turned it all around
Thought you were better now
Thought you could do without it
Track Name: Make It Back
I put that record on and I don’t know
Something in principle
I don’t feel so alone

Wish I could bottle it but I don’t know
Just need somewhere to go
Feelings that I can’t show

Tonight there’s something
Make it back tonight, there’s something
But I don’t know

Reactions you were sure that I’d outgrow
They all fade into gray
In a well-mannered way

Guess we just lost connection long ago
And there’s no going back
No renewing the pact

Tonight there’s something
Make it back tonight, there’s something
But I don’t know

Memories of yesterday
How fast they fade away
With empty spots for all the
Things that I meant to say
Track Name: On The House
Welcome to the American nightmare
Where dreams fade fast
But that’s not what you want to hear
Cult classic wrapped up for show yeah
We’ve all seen it but nobody knows
Who you are, what they think
Where you’re at, where you’ll be
Line all your problems up in a row
I got the drinks tonight lets go

(Woahs that have nothing in common with any Naked Raygun song)

Time’s up decide what you wanna be
My reaction time is way too slow
Thought I had it all figured out
But now I just don’t know
How everything got complicated
Or where everybody had to go
Next time I’ll get it right but
I got the drinks tonight lets go

Tell me what you wanna be
Tell me……
Don’t know what…..
Tell us…….

Time’s up, stop throw it all away
Start over fresh on another day
There’s really no good reason
To feel so low
About who you are, what they think
Where you’re at, where you’ll be
Line all your problems up in a row
I got the drinks tonight lets go

Drinks are on the house
Track Name: El Bastardo
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was something to say
A button to reset the end of the day
Try to keep up, you just go faster
Throw all my shit out, call me a bastard

I never thought that things would end up this way
I never thought it was a contest to play
Try to keep up, you just go faster
Full steam ahead, date with disaster

I try to turn the other cheek
As you shove words down my throat
Then you ask if I want more
Think by now that you should know

Pent it all up until you burst at the seams
Better way out is just to blame it on me
Try to keep up, you just go faster
Throw all my shit out, call me a bastard

I never thought that it would end up this way
I never thought it was a contest to play
Try to keep up, you just go faster
Full steam ahead, date with disaster

I try to turn the other cheek
As you shove words down my throat
Then you ask if I want more
Used to wait for hours just to see your face
And in not so many words, I think you should know

You ruined my outlook like I’m always wrong
Ruined my friends and you ruin my songs
Throw out my records and ruin my scene
Try as you like but you won’t ruin me
Track Name: Alcoholics
Never thought twice about a 2nd drink
(never thought twice at all)
Never thought twice what it’s doing to me
(never thought twice at all)

Same old story in the end
Man I swear I’m never gonna drink again
Line em’ up we’ll knock em’ back
Alcoholic hacks
I’ll take a Coke and Jack

Never thought twice what time it is
Never thought twice what I gotta do

Circumvent responsibility
Wash away all my insecurity
Make me feel like who I wanna be
Knock a few back till my liver bleeds

Alcoholic hacks
I’ll take a Coke and Jack
My bank account is tapped
I think I’m getting fat
We’re alcoholics
Track Name: Parade
Funny how your pictures used to be on my walls
Funny how that gesture means nothing at all
Nothing left for you to say that I would want to hear
Nothing left but empty bottles

(chorus)
So drink all night, sleep through the day
Walk through this life like it was a parade
And when you see me, grin and wave
Nothing matters at all, with a foot in the grave

Nothing left but remnants of what I thought you’d be
Nothing but the absence of everything I need
Nothing left for me to do, but act like you’re not here
Nothing left but empty bottles

Everyone’s thinking, but now they know
That lately your sanity’s been touch and go
But I think you knew that long ago

Funny how it’s worked out, if you could only see
Can’t reconcile the distance that’s between you and me
Nothing left for us to do but turn and walk away
Nothing left but empty bottles

And I see you with one foot in the grave
Track Name: Newport HC
Can’t believe it, can’t believe you’re gone
Newport hardcore won’t be the same without you
Never be the same without out

Should have seen it, written on the wall
Newport hardcore won’t be the same without you
Never be the same without out

I can’t believe it now you’re gone
I should have seen it on the wall
Now everywhere I look
I see your face in everyone I know
Where you stood before
Newport Hardcore

Can’t believe it, loss for us all
Should have seen it, you were there for us all

Where you stood before, should have seen it
You’re my moron bro, best believe it
Where you stood before
Newport Hardcore
Track Name: Y.A.M.S. (You are my sunshine)
You are my sunshine punk version
